Congregation Beth El Atereth
Our charge for this renovation was to develop an interior design of great distinction that reflects the synagogue’s welcoming and vibrant membership. The design re-energizes the synagogue by introducing contrasting materials and colors, While respecting its 1960s American synagogue architectural design heritage. New interior design elements include finishes, lighting, window treatments, and built-in and free standing furniture. Spear Design Group solicited design submissions, screened candidates and worked with artists on the final designs for the ark curtain, eternal light, holocaust memorial and donor wall installations. As part of a collaboration with Haijin Architects, the complete renovation included new A/V, HVAC, lighting and power systems, energy-efficient windows, and a new elevator for accessibility.
