Beth El Community Mikvah

Beth El Community Mikvah

This adaptive reuse project transformed the lower level of a Newton, Massachusetts, synagogue into a ritualarium known as a mikvah.  Spear Design Group was commissioned to select the interior finishes.  Emphasis was placed on choosing interior materials and furnishings that usher a guest through a transition from the ordinary to the elevated. Wood, natural slate, limestone, and water elements echo the natural world and are used to communicate the re-establishment of creative potential.
